“Camp HOPE America-Oklahoma, Tulsa (formerly Camp HOPE Takatoka) began the summer of 2015 at YMCA Camp Takatoka. We have had roughly 30 families involved each summer and 15 campers that attended both summers. The first year we did monthly reunions with these families, now we have moved to 3 spring and 3 fall family events. Camp HOPE campers and their families have gone to the Tulsa Drillers baseball games, Oilers Hockey games, rode the zip line at the Westside YMCA and gathered together each holiday season for a potluck dinner. So many great memories.
We are gearing up now for our 3rd summer and are pleased to be joining with the Oklahoma City Family Justice Center’s team to host their campers as well during one session of Camp HOPE America-Oklahoma at YMCA Camp Takatoka. All of our partner agencies that are involved in Camp HOPE America-Oklahoma make it such a strong program and give us the ability to break the cycle of violence here in Oklahoma.” -Summer Knox, Senior Director of Camping Services-
