2017 marked the fourth year that the San Joaquin County Family Justice Center (SJCFJC) sent kids to Camp HOPE America – California. In San Joaquin County, Camp HOPE is the result of collaboration between multiple agencies in the community, including the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, the San Joaquin County Probation Department, the Bureau of Investigations of the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, Child Protective Services, and other partners.
This year, the SJCFJC held their camp reunion party at a fire station thanks to the generous support of Stockton Fire Chief Eric Newman and the staff of Fire Station #2. It was a great time for all– campers explored the station, visited with fire staff, and learned about what firefighters do. Campers even had the chance to test out the fire hose on a hot day!
Through its successful collaborations and partnerships, the SJCFJC is creating community after the crisis for the youngest survivors of trauma and abuse. Together, they are creating HOPE in San Joaquin County.
